Decahydron’s work in carbon-negative hydrogen and ultramafic rock utilisation for CO₂ sequestration recently took centre stage in an interview with Tom Raftery, host of the Climate Confident Podcast. Arnaud Lager, CEO of Decahydron, joined Tom to discuss these solutions.
The Role of Ultramafic Rocks. Central to Decahydron’s CO₂ sequestration strategy is the use of ultramafic rocks. These rocks, formed deep within the Earth’s mantle, are naturally reactive with CO₂, forming stable carbonate minerals. This reaction is a permanent solution to locking away CO₂. The potential of these rocks in places like the UAE and Oman is significant.
Natural Hydrogen Sources. The interview also delved into the untapped potential of natural hydrogen found in certain geological formations. This source of hydrogen could transform energy-intensive industries, offering substantial economic and environmental advantages over hydrogen made by electrolysis.
